Awards Program
NPA, since its inception, has promoted and strives to recognize individuals and entities which have worked tirelessly to conduct research, implement best practices and/or who have devoted themselves to advocacy for continuing improvements in the field of perinatal health and health care. NPA's annual awards program is the on-going commitment to fostering advancement in perinatal health and is held in conjunction with the Annual Clinical Conference.

PURPOSE
- To honor a state perinatal association with innovative initiatives in legislative activities, membership development, research, education and program development.

Individual Contribution to Maternal Child Health |

PURPOSE
- To honor an individual physician, nurse, midwife, social worker, dietician, respiratory therapist, or other health care provider, politician, lawyer, teacher, or parent who has contributed tirelessly and largely behind the scenes to enhance the maternal child health cause.

Becky Hatfield Family Support Award |

PURPOSE
- To honor an individual or group who has provided substantial support to families dealing with the emotional aspects of high-risk maternal/child health.
ELIGIBILITY
- An individual or group who has made a contribution to enhance support for families coping with the emotional aspects of maternal/child health.

National Perinatal Assocations Transcultural Care Award |

PURPOSE
- To honor one individual or organization for its outstanding efforts to improve perinatal care through a transcultural initiative.
ELIGIBILITY
- Nomination may be made by any individual or organizational member of NPA through completion of an application form.

Legislative Award |
[ Winner 2009 Senator Lisa Murkowski ]
PURPOSE
- To honor an individual legislator (federal or state) who through his/her life and works has made a significant contribution toward enhancement of the cause of NPA.
ELIGIBILITY
- Nomination may be made by any individual or organizational member of NPA through completion of an application form.

NPA Research Awards |
The Research Committee of the National Perinatal Association invites abstracts to be considered for poster presentation at the annual conference. Any abstract with an application in perinatal health is acceptable; however, those, which address the multidisciplinary approach to perinatal health, are encouraged. Abstracts may describe contributions to theory, policy development, program development and evaluation, delivery of health or related services, or research. Abstracts presented at State Perinatal Association meetings are encouraged. Abstracts previously presented at other scientific conferences are also invited. There are three categories for submissions:
- Models of Care [Winner 2009 Jamie Bankston, RN, MS, Janetta Stockdale, RN, Ericka Alegria, RN, Callie Stedman, RN, Tonya Sosebee, RN,BSN, Kim Williams, RN, BSN, and Barbara Greer, RN, MSN.]
- Applied or Basic Research [Winner 2009 Tabitha Solomon, Mitchell Goldstein, Danny Saesim, Elba Fayard, and Peverini Ricardo.]
- Young Investigators
PRESENTATION:
- The awards will be presented at the NPA Annual Clinical Conference.
- Topic Awards: The principcal presenter for both the Models of Care and Research category awards will receive a one-year membership in NPA and a plaque acknowledging the achievement.
- Young Investigator Award: The principle presenter for the Young Investigator category will receive a complimentary conference registration, a one-year membership in NPA, and a plaque acknowledging this achievement.
